Dealing With My Weekly Recipe Needs

I am a recipe junkie. I am in recipe groups, I get recipe RSS feeds, I subscribe to recipe newsletters. Every once in a while I do a new search for "free recipe newsletters" on Google. For the last many months the top 2 results have been very consistent.

  1. Free Recipe Newsletter Delivered Weekly from FoodClassics.com

  2. Free Recipe Newsletter : Food Network

I actually get newsletters from both, and have been very pleased. FoodClassics.com's newsletter is very plain text; and I like that. No HTML, no click tracking, no open tracking -- just a newsletter. Sometimes they have offers that you can click on for products, but nothing that overwhelms the content.

The one thing that turned me off to the FoodNetwork newsletter is all of the data they try to capture about you. You have to wonder if they are using/selling that data. Regardless, they do have good content.

I don't think you will go wrong with newsletters from either site.

Want a Salad for Your Next Picnic?

I do love summer picnics. Making my favorite recipes for family and friends is a blast. I ran across this recipe for cold shrimp salad on a site I visit often, and I make it without fail for our picnics now. Cooking a fancy dish is fun, but sometimes a simple recipe like this is plenty enough.

Are You epi-Curious?

A great resource for finding new recipes is Epicurious. They claim to have the world's greatest collection of recipes... I think they are one of the top sites on the web, but I don't know if I would put them ahead of AllRecipes. Epicurious is surely a top tier recipe site, and I expect they will stay as such.

AllRecipes, My First

So back in the day (the day before Google became the top search engine), I used to bounce around all of the search engines of the time looking for recipe results. On that day, I stumbled on AllRecipes. I was in heaven.

AllRecipes provides a good interface for searching for recipes. They have a ton of recipes to search. They have a full page, loaded sometimes with more data than I'd like. To this day I use AllRecipes as a primary resource for recipes. Their recipe "collections" offer a fine way to browse through recipes of a particular type.

Blogging - First Attempt

Well, this is my first real attempt at blogging, so be gentle in your criticism. My goal of this site is to highlight some of my favorite online recipe sources, and to keep a running list of the sites that I frequent with some level of regularity. I need to gather my thoughts on an initial list right now. I hope to have it posted in the next day or so!
